About

““Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” ~ Aaron Siskind

My given name is Mahbubur Rahman – but I go by a bunch of other names: Mickey, Mahbub, Boobie, Romel and Bhabi. I’ve lived in many countries during my lifetime, but Bangladesh is the country I call home, and Dhaka is the city I call my birthplace. My second home is Long Island, New York, where I currently spend my time.

I take photographs based on my feelings. I hope you feel what I feel when you see this.

Learning to fly

The name of this photoblog comes from a Pink Floyd song called ‘learning to fly’ – it was written when David Gilmour, then assumed the position of the leader of the band after Roger Waters left the band. I feel it was written as metaphor for starting something new, venturing into the unknown….not knowing where you will end up.
